Parents Forever Classes

To help you better understand the class materials, we request that you read the articles in "Tips" on our website and visit "Helpful Links" before the class. It may also shorten the conflict resolution class if all class participants read the articles. 

We offer a reduction in fee if you meet the criteria of our organization.  You will be screened for reduced fees at the time of registration.  We are independent of the court system and provide court approved divorce education services as a private nonprofit entity.  For this reason, fees are not waived even if you are proceeding in forma pauperis. You may be eligible for a reduced fee if all criteria is met as outlined by our agency. Consistent application for reduced fees is applied.

• $80- cash basis due at the time of service
• $40 - Reduced fee for Legal Aid clients(Available for live class only)

2010 Class Schedule: Please bring your own snacks, beverages or a bag lunch.

If the class potentially has an effect on your parenting time, it is advised that you contact the other parent as soon as possible to adjust your parenting time schedule so you can attend without missing precious parenting time.  If verification is needed by the other parent that you are scheduled to attend, they may call the office for verification of your registration.

Class schedules will change after the virtual Parents Forever process is in place.  Classes are available monthly by either virtual or live classes.  Rotation will be two months of virtual classes and one month of live classes.  Dates are not yet determined.

• September 11 - 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. (Virtual class likely)
• October 9 - 9:00 a.m. -2:00 p.m.
• November 13 - 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.(Virtual class likely)
• December 11 - 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. (Virtual class likely)

Virtual Parents Forever! Why drive to a class when you can take it in your pajamas at home? No maneuvering winter roads or risk of hitting wildlife on the way home! Just settle the kids down for an hour and a half and complete the court required divorce education from home.

When: Virtual classes are held for 3 consecutive evenings from 7:00 p.m. - 8:20 p.m.  All three modules are needed for certification.  Makeup modules are available with the following class, but there is a pre-paid $25 reactivation fee. There are no downloads or special equipment.  A headset is recommended but not mandatory.  Participants may use the chat option and there will be polling questions to ensure engagement and participation.

Cost: $40/$80- Class must be pre-paid by certified check or money order. Personal checks must be received no later than 2 weeks in advance of class.  No exceptions.

Where Regular Parents Forever classes are held: Hibbing Grace Lutheran Church, 4010 9th Avenue West, Hibbing, MN.

Directions: (Highway 169 in Hibbing heading towards Grand Rapids) Turn right at stop lights across from Kentucky Fried Chicken and right before Lowe's.  The Mann Theater is next to Lowe's and the Grace Lutheran Church where the class is held is across the street.There is a lit sign in front of the building. Please do not use the double doors.  Use the front entrance on the east side of the building (also the daycare entrance) and follow the signs on the wall to the meeting room.

Pre-registration is required. You may register by emailing me or by telephone at 218-263-7307. If you register by email, please provide:

(1) Your name;(2) Your telephone number; (3) Your address; (4) The name of the other party;  (5) The name of your attorney; (5) Indicate whether you have an objection to the other party attending the same class or not.

Please indicate if there are any restrictions for contact, such as an order for protection, which will prevent you from attending the same class.

Reminder contacts by phone and/or email will be made prior to the class. We will be requesting an RSVP before the class.

Many parents attend the same class with the other parent.  However, if you are requesting that the other party not attend the same class please inform us at the time of registration.  If there is a history of domestic abuse or an Order for Protection in place with the other party please inform us during the intake process. Thank you.

Parenting Coordinator Services

$175.00 per hour: Fees for services are either equally divided between the parties upon agreement or assessed with the percentages based on the Minnesota Child Support Guidelines.

Method of Payment:

Retainer fees: (Advantage of this option: Parties have the option of using a credit card and a retainer ensures better follow through.)

The amount of the retainer will depend upon the degree of conflict and number of issues to be negotiated.  Retainers average $400 per party for parenting time and $800 per parent for divorce. Both parties must agree to the retainer option. Refunds are provided for fees not used.  Parties are billed for email correspondence, rescheduling and office calls once the process begins.

Hourly: Credit card is not available for hourly fees. Fees are due at the beginning of each session on cash basis.  No checks are accepted without pre-approval and a credit card number is used to secure payment. An estimate of needed time will be discussed prior to setting of appointment.  Parties are billed for email correspondence, rescheduling and office calls once the process begins.

Legal drafting services of dissolution documents: $400
