Parenting Consultant and Expediter

Lois Warner is trained and certified by the AFCC to provide parenting time expediter and parenting consultant services for families in repeated and high conflict over their children.  This is a service that must be ordered by the court.

A parenting time expediter is ordered by a judge in situations where parenting time is being prevented or there are difficult dynamics between parents.  The role of an expediter (which may be termed "parenting time coordinator" or "parenting consultant" in different areas of the United States) is to interpret the court's order as it relates to enforcing that parenting time occurs as ordered or that the intent of a parenting plan is followed by both parents.

The expediters' role is also to provide support to the family to ensure that children have regular and frequent contact with both parents, that exchanges and parenting time safely happens, and that communications between parents remain civil and productive. The goal of the service is to teach, instruct and guide the parents in their co-parenting role so court or other interventions will not be needed in the future.

An expediter may have contact with professionals involved in the case, including but not limited to children, school, mental health professionals, social workers, attorneys and judges.  An expediter is paid by the parties under a contract for services.   The cost of the service will depend upon the length of time the expediter is intended to serve the parties, the needs of the family, and the level of intervention needed.  Directives would be provided by the court's order.

We have a trained expediter available if parents are in need of these services.  She has been trained in the role of a parenting time expediter and has also received advanced training through the Association of Family Conciliation Courts (AFCC) at the Loyola College of Law in Chicago. She has been a divorce mediator since 1996 and has been a co-parenting educator since 2000.  She also worked for ten years in the court system as an official court reporter.

You  may submit our name as a parenting time expediter to the court that you are working with.  However, the court has the final decision on which expediter is to be chosen according to the needs of the family.  Once the court's order is finalized, the terms of the contract will be negotiated.
